November 13-16, 2008
Seattle turned out big time for the big Perugia delegation visit in November. We had a terrific 15th Anniversary celebration at FareStart with the delegation, led by Perugia Mayor Renato Locchi (right, with Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels), featuring a typical Umbrian meal prepared by Antonio Petruzzi of EatItalian Style. We also feasted on real Western barbecue at the home of Mike and Donna James, visited the Vashon Island studio of Seattle artist Julie Speidel (and shared a wonderful lunch), toured the Salish Art exhibit at SAM, visited the new Duwamish Longhouse, met the Dean of UW Arts and Sciences, enjoyed lunch hosted by the Italian Studies Faculty, shared coffee at Caffe` Umbria hosted by the owner, Emanuele Bizzarri, met with Seattle city council members and Mayor Nickels - all in just 4 quick days. Whew! Many thanks to everyone who helped make the visit a success and a good time, and to Saleh and Lucy Joudeh who hosted a small dinner for Mayor Locchi and members of the delegation. See our slide show for pictures of the Locchi visit.
