Members-Only: Perugino Art Lecture: May 30, 7 pm

The Seattle-Perugia Sister City Association invites its members to a special lecture on the great Renaissance artist Perugino to honor the 500th anniversary of his passing. Pietro Vannucci, “il Perugino,” is best known as Raphael’s teacher, but he was a supremely important artist in his own right, described in 1500 as “the best master in Italy.” A skilled fresco painter, he was invited to decorate the walls of the Sistine Chapel. He was also one of the first Italian painters to master oil painting, and his graceful and elegant style paved the way for the High Renaissance. Popular local art historian (and SPSCA board member) Rebecca Albiani will introduce us to his work.
